About going to a Florida men’s drug rehab

Many things need to be considered if you are thinking about going to a Florida men’s drug rehab. This is a big step that should not be taken lightly. Therefore, you must carefully consider all of the things that are involved in the rehab process. Make sure that you have a thorough understanding of what you are about to get yourself into. It is especially important to think things through if you plan on undergoing inpatient therapy which will require you to live at the facility full-time for several weeks or more. This will be a drastic change in your lifestyle. Many addicts find it hard to deal with at first. Here are some examples of rehab questions many people don’t ask.

1. What type of nutrition will I be getting?

As you might expect, most people who will soon be attending drug or alcohol rehab are concerned about some of the medications used in the treatment process. They rarely concern themselves with the types of food that will be served to them while they are living at the rehab facility. However, this is a very important detail that should not be overlooked. Your body and your mind need to be totally healthy if you have any hope of kicking your habit once and for all. Therefore, you need to have the right nourishment served to you on a daily basis. Unfortunately, this is not a top priority for many detox centers. This is why it is imperative that you invest the time to do all of the research you need in order to determine the exact foods you will be served at each facility you are considering. The detox process can be a brutal thing to endure. You need to feed your body the right vitamins and minerals to keep it strong for the duration of your detox.

2. Can I communicate with the outside world?

Surprisingly, there are an enormous amount of people who check into a rehab facility having no idea about the facility’s policy regarding outside contact. Will you be able to keep your cell phone? What about your laptop? Will you even be able to connect with the Internet from your room? Do they have rules about not making or receiving calls after a certain time at night? Generally, many rehab facilities do not allow their patients to have cell phones because of the possibility of being exposed to negative influences during the treatment process. However, all detox centers allow their patients to contact family members by using a phone located at the facility. This allows the therapists and other staff members to be aware of who the patient is talking to during the treatment process. It is always a good idea to have a clear understanding of the facility’s rules concerning the use of phones and the Internet before you decide to check yourself in. These are not rules that you want to find out after you are already a patient.

3. How often can friends and family visit?

Friends and family members are usually allowed to visit patients while they are undergoing treatment at most rehab facilities. However, it is often just one time. Visits are usually kept to a minimum to allow patients to focus on their recovery without an abundance of outside distractions. Certain detox centers may allow visitation to happen on more than one day. You should inquire about this during your tour. Ask how many times people can visit you and find out the specific days when visitation will occur. It is hard for many patients to be isolated from their friends or family for an extended period of time. This is why you need to find out the visitation schedule in advance. It will allow you to mentally prepare yourself for the separation from the people you love during your recovery from benzo addiction.

4. What type of aftercare will you receive?

The treatment you will receive while you are living at the facility will only be a part of your recovery. You will not be completely cured when you walk out of the doors of the facility after your treatment has concluded. You will most likely be tempted to use drugs or alcohol again. Therefore, it is important that you have a support system to help you overcome these urges. An aftercare program often involves a counselor from the facility calling you regularly to see how you are doing. You might also be required to go back to the facility periodically. Find out the specifics before you become a patient.
